A couple just engaged

This painting was made from a very old and faded black and white photograph. I was commissioned by my friend and current employee to make a colour painting of her parents after they became engaged. She estimated that the photograph was taken in the early 1950’s. I enjoyed that challenge of adding colour to this otherwise somewhat gray photograph. I learned about their hair colour, and the likely colours of their clothes, and essentially improvised. Both parents are deceased, but this enduring image of them now has more life and hangs in my friend’s home.
