Cafe Scene in Rome

One of my favourite pastimes has always been people-watching, and in some ways, it’s what encouraged me to become a psychologist. This painting was made from a photograph I took in Italy. I enjoyed the many and varied details in the scene for me to paint. I also was fascinated with the observation that five figures in such proximity could all be focused on different things. I get excited when I try to speculate about what each person is thinking or feeling.
