Horse in Sunset

This painting was made from a stock photo I found online. I originally thought I would do a pencil drawing, with the goal of capturing the complexity of the shadow patterns on the horse. However, as I got more comfortable painting, I thought I would give it a try. The colours are very intense and almost unreal. I liked the challenge of trusting the photo as an accurate representation of reality even though it still seems a bit unreal to me.
