Woman in Canoe

I was drawn to this scene because of the colours and the quietness of the scene. It was based on a friend’s photograph, and it represents one of the first times I painted reflections in water. I was reminded that trusting the process is key, as I never deliberately tried to create a smooth reflective surface on the water. It simply resulted from sticking to the concept of representing what I see without a specific goal of creating shimmer or shine.
