Libby and Izzy
About
Libby and Izzy are the parent’s of my sister-in-law, who is married to my brother. It was made from a photograph taken about 15 years prior. The couple were dancing at their granddaughter’s Bat Mitzvah, with Izzy’s ever-present video camera around his neck. Sadly, just a couple of years prior to the painting, Libby had passed away. I wanted to make a painting of her to give to my sister-in-law. As she searched through piles of photographs, she noticed that there were almost no paintings of Libby without Izzy, nor of Izzy without Libby. They were a very close couple! It was then decided to make a painting of the two of them together. When the painting was given to him, his entire family (children and grandchildren) was with him, and apparently on at least one occasion, the painting was at the family dinner table in Libby’s customary chair.
