Path in Redwood forest

This painting was made from a friend’s photograph taken in a forest filled with giant California Redwood trees. I loved not only the majestic trees, many of which are a few thousand years old, but also the pattern of sunlight squeezing through on the path. It remains one of the largest paintings I’ve made, and the composition seems to invite the viewer into the forest.
