Three sisters

This painting was commissioned by these three sisters as a present for their mother’s 70th birthday. The sister on the left was a former student and employee of mine several years earlier, and we maintained contact. She had an idea to make a painting of her and her sisters and present it to their mother on her birthday. I was very honoured that she trusted me with this task. A close friend of mine took a series of photographs of them, and I chose to paint this one. It seemed to represent both their joyous outlook on life along with their closeness. I was there when they presented the painting to their mother, and she was overwhelmed and so touched. It was a wonderful experience!
