Wood Duck in Water
About
This painting was made from a photograph my friend took while we were in Point Pelee about 10 years prior. Point Pelee is the southernmost place in all of Canada, and to my great surprise, it is south of Northern California! Twice a year migrating birds of all types take a roughly two-week pitstop there, before or after crossing Lake Erie. Birders (formerly known as Bird Watchers) from all around the world arrive there to see the many different species of birds present. We saw this duck in a very small pond on the side of the road. The painting now hangs in my brother’s and sister-in-law’s cottage.
